You may also have noticed their costumes have been slightly redesigned.

Looks like somebody got the art upgrade they wanted for Christmas. And from my corner, it’s time for a comparison. Regardless, it’s time for a new transformation sequence.
I… guess this is still supposed to be a cellphone? I’ve never been sure, honestly. Mepple and Mipple assume their cellphone forms. Nagisa and Honoka find a temporary safe spot to transform. Also, they’ll have tended to be somewhere near Pretty Cure. They’re strongly connected, so while they might not all be together, they won’t be far apart. Mepple realizes she has a point, considers the question, and comes up with a good point of his own.īack at the Garden of Light, the Elder explains that it shouldn’t be hard to find all the Queen’s bits and pieces. Nagisa points out that they were supposedly going to sleep forever. …and two bright lights shoot out and hit the Zakenna in the face. It quickly corners them against a building, but suddenly there’s a glow from their bags…

They tun from a series of traffic lights and street signs that are trying to fall on them, and are confronted by something we haven’t seen in a while: a Zakenna, made from an intersection. HMM COULD THIS POSSIBLY BE RELATED TO THOSE LIGHTS WE SAW EARLIER–oh wait they say that immediately.Įlsewhere, the sky above N&H turns purple and they’re abruptly attacked by a falling lamppost. He explains her origin story, which is basically “a bunch of spirit gathered together,” and reveals she actually has three components: her life, her heart, and a set of twelve things called Heartiels which correspond to her will. The Elder explains that the Queen wasn’t always the Queen. What is this? What could this mean? If only we had some kind of extremely unsubtle hint such as a sudden cut to somewhere else where somebody is talking about something relevant. She’d much rather suddenly turn up across the street from N&H, and stare at them as they stare back.īoth of them get a mysterious feeling from her, and then she disappears as suddenly as she appeared. She’s staring at the river, but she isn’t content to just do that.
Meanwhile, down by the river, we catch a glimpse of… They keep piling more and more issues on us. There are much more important things to think about now than poor Mepple and Mipple. Walking home, they realize they’re both still carrying Mepple and Mipple around with them. I bet this visual doesn’t represent anything at all!īack on Earth, Honoka and Nagisa have assumed command of their respective clubs. Meanwhile, in a much less important matter, the Queen explodes.Ī bunch of little lights are formed in the sky. Yoshimi is reluctant to actually answer this, but once they get her started she doesn’t stop until she embarrasses herself. This is followed by the title card, which I have to share because I love the title of this episode.Īt school, Shiho asks the question on everybody’s mind. She assures Wisdom and the Elder that she isn’t dying or anything… Which honestly bothers me a little–I think it would have been better to have her hurt by all the destructive power she was fending off for the last bit of the previous season–but hey. The Queen has been hurt by a last-second attack by the Dark King. While life has returned to normal for these two, though, bad things are upcoming in the Garden of Light.
There’s been a new addition to their morning routines, though, one that represents a sudden shift in tone for these opening scenes. Nagisa and Honoka are preparing for school, now in their third year of middle school. Misumi has taken up the dental hygiene torch, but that’s not important right now. It’s a new day, and things are proceeding much as they always have. And so my life got slightly more complicated because now I have to remember what day number it is. Pretty Cure being the runaway success it was, a sequel was inevitable.
